Looking for a quick Tikka Masala recipe that’s a tiny bit healthier than the full-on cream version? I got you covered. This easy healthier Tikka Masala recipe is full of flavor and the resemblance to “real” Tikka Masala is so minor you can’t even tell. I chose to leave out the crushed and canned tomatoes in this recipe, but you can, of course, add them if you like. This recipe is ready in 30 minutes, which makes it an ideal dinner for both weekdays and weekends.
Tikka Masala Spice Mix
Here you have two options to choose from. To make your own Tikka Masala spice mix or to go for a ready blended one. I will of course encourage you to go for the make your own version, but the choice is yours. A hot tip is to triple (or more) the recipe for your own Tikka Masala spice mix to have for later Tikka Masala cooking sessions. The spice mix requires quite a few ingredients yes, but many of which are very much used in other Indian recipes so I’m sure they will not go to waste. I use these ingredients a lot in my recipes so you will find a use for them elsewhere, promise. If you want to use a ready blended spice mix, I recommend the Santa Maria Tikka Masala Spice Mix, I’ve tried it and it works well.
Diet variations
You can make this recipe full-on vegan by swapping the chicken to Tofu and choose plant-based yogurt. I used Oatly Turkish Yogurt in my recipe and it was very easy to cook with and did not leave any lumps or similar. A smooth, creamy, thick sauce.
