This post is in collaboration with Barebells Finland. It’s here, international Waffle Day. What a day to celebrate huh? I teamed up with Barebells and made a tasty vegan chocolate waffle recipe, filled with the vegan chocolate dough protein bar, yum. Super easy to make and so so delicious. Choose toppings you like, I went for fresh banana and raspberries with melted chocolate, but I can think of so many additional toppings that would work really well also. Vanilla ice cream and fried banana or whipped cream and strawberries.
Diet variations
The recipe is super easy to make gluten-free and as I personally can’t eat gluten, these bad boys are made with gluten-free flour. If you prefer regular, just swap the flour to the one you prefer. As this recipe is also fully adapted for vegans, you don’t need to make any changes if you follow a vegan diet. If you prefer, you can use milk instead of water as liquid and fry them in real butter instead of margarine, this will make them even tastier.

Vegan Chocolate Waffles

Ingredients
- Waffles:
- 3 dl flour or gluten-free flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2-5 tbsp cacao powder
- 2 1/2-3 dl water or sparkling water
- 1/2 dl agave syrup
- 50 g melted margarine + 1 tbsp for frying
- 1 Barebells Chocolate Dough Vegan bar
- Toppings:
- Banana
- Raspberries
- Coconut flakes
- 50g melted dark chocolate
- 1 Barebells Chocolate Dough Vegan bar
Directions
- Step 1
- Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and cacao powder to a bowl and blend with a spoon. Adjust the amount of cacao according to your taste, the more cacao the stronger the chocolate flavor.
- Step 2
- Add the water, agave syrup and melted margarine to the dough and blend into an even, quite thick dough. Add more water if needed and use sparkling water if you want crispier waffles.
- Step 3
- Chop 1 Barebells Chocolate Dough Vegan bar into small pieces and add to the dough.
- Step 4
- Heat your waffle pan, add some margarine and fry your waffles.
- Step 5
- Top your waffles with sliced banana, raspberries, coconut flakes, chopped Chocolate Dough Vegan bar, and finally drizzle over some melted dark chocolate.
